Creator Journal #3 – Why I Abandoned My Graphic Novel
One of the questions I’ve been asked several times since releasing Blood & Oaths is, “Was this always planned as a novel?”
The short answer is no.
Like many creative projects, Legend of Nero has evolved over the years. What began as a collection of original characters eventually became comics, then a fully scripted graphic novel, and finally the first novel in what I hope will become a long-running fantasy series.
In this Creator Journal, I take you behind the scenes of that journey—the successes, the setbacks, and the difficult decision to leave behind years of graphic novel development in order to give the story the opportunity to become something even bigger.
